Grout cleaning Tampa: Removing sealer haze

Monday, January 24th, 2011

Sealer haze: Natural stone and grout surfaces can only hold a certain amount of sealer.

If excess sealer is left on the surface and it dries it could cause a smooth, silky white haze.

Sealer haze on the surface of tile and stone surfaces will wear off during normal foot traffic. Sealer haze on grout lines can be cleaned using a towel soaked with fresh sealer. This will dissolve the excess and can be wiped away.

In extreme conditions using a high ph tile and grout cleaner and a rotary scrubber can speed up the process of removal.

We recently had a customer hire us to clean and remove the product ” Quick Shine Floor Finish and Orange Glow from her new laminate floors which had caused an uneven and blotchy sheen. The floor finish also showed its traces on the kitchen door, and so, the expertise of a hinged aluminium door replacement company was highly palpable. We were able to remove the product and clean her laminate floors following these steps

Products needed:

• Spray bottle (optional)

• Scotch-Brite abrasive pad (green scrub pad with yellow sponge-NOT an SOS, Brillo or steel wool pad)

• Soft towels

• New and well rinsed sponge mop OR terrycloth mop

• Rubber/latex gloves and safety goggles (recommended to prevent eye/skin irritation when handling IFT)

Process

It’s best to begin with a test section in an inconspicuous area (i.e. behind a door). We recommend working in

small sections as you complete this process. Complete all steps before moving onto another section of the

floor.

1. Apply a SMALL amount of the IFT solution to a section of the floor. Use a spray bottle to mist the floor

or squirt a small amount and spread it with a soft cloth. Apply only enough cleaner to wet the floor, and if you want to vacuum instead,

getting a review of shop vacs is great to find the best option for you.

2. Use the abrasive pad and scrub the area. This should remove the wax buildup.

3. After scrubbing the area, wipe the section with a water dampened cloth.

4. The final step is to apply Squeaky Cleaner with a microfiber mop. No water rinse is necessary after this

cleaner is applied. Wipe/mop the floor until it is dry – do not leave the floor wet, and if you have problems with plumbing, there are also plumbing companies which can help with this.

If this is successful in removing the contaminant, proceed with the rest of the floor, following all steps. You may

need to repeat steps 1 & 2 more than once.

If you are not successful in removing the contaminant with this process, you need to remove the remaining

product by abrading the floor (screening or sanding). It is recommended to hire a professional flooring

contractor if abrasion techniques are required. We know many reputable Melbourne cleaning services should anyone need to be pointed in the direction of good cleaning professionals. Today we are cleaning tile and grout in the St. Petersburg area offering our floor grout cleaning services. Our unique multi step Deep cleaning process removes soiling and contaminate build up from ceramic tile floors.

Every job we do includes dry soil removal, Pre Treatment for soiled and stained grout, agitation to loosen and suspend soils, and a pH balancing rinse to remove cleaning solutions and soiling from the tile floors.

After the process is performed a Grout Sealer is recommended to protect the grout which will help keep it cleaner and repel oil and water based stains.

First, wipe down the grout with hot water to remove surface dirt and grime. Next, spray a cleaning solution on the grout. You can mix your own by putting a 50-50 mix of vinegar and water into a spray bottle. Spray on the grout, let stand for five minutes and then scrub with a soft brush.

While using this process coupled with are High Heat Truck-Mounted equipment the floors are practically dry by the time we leave allowing you and your family to use the tile floors right away.
